Daily Schedule Descriptions for the Verbose

Below are detailed descriptions of the ensembles and classes in each daily Block.

7:00 am – 8:00 am | BREAKFAST
8:00 am – 9:00 am | Morning Classes (60 min)

Required, but you may choose from a dozen different classes, spanning musical education, practice techniques, and phys ed. Your choices may include:

  • Music Theory
  • Harmony
  • Conducting
  • Beginning Composition
  • Vocal / Instrumental Warmup
  • Physical Ed
  • Dance
  • Interpretive Gardening and Basketweaving

9:15 am – 10:15 am | MiPAC Concert Choir (60 min)
10:15 am – 10:30 am | Announcements (15 min)

Ya can’t be a truly well-rounded musician without knowing how to SING – and how to sing really, really well, in a big ol’ choir. That’s how you’ll spend this hour in the MIPAC CONCERT CHOIR. You’ll sing all manner of SATB music, from classical masterpieces to popular tunes, from weird contemporary stuff to a capella renditions of video game theme songs. THIS IS HOW GLEE CLUB CAN BE MADE TOTALLY COOL.

10:45 am – 12:00 pm | Morning Ensembles (75 min)

Here is where you’ll break out your main axe and start playing your fingers/lips/hearts out.

After a delightful lunch of mystery meats and vampire veg, you’ll start your afternoon with the freedom to try something NEW. Take the chance to branch out into stuff you’ve never done before!

2:15 pm – 3:30 pm | Afternoon Ensembles (75 min)
3:30 pm – 4:00 pm | BREAK

Back to the meat and potatoes (tofu and tempeh?) of any music camp: the large ensembles. Followed by a 30-minute break in which you may sprawl on the grass in the quad for a well-earned catnap — as the more energetic campers leap and twirl around you, in games of Ultimate and high-stakes Lawn Bowling Tournaments.

4:00 pm – 5:15 pm | Small Ensembles (75 min)

It’s time for Small Ensembles! Refreshed from your break, head into your groups that will sharpen your musically finesse-y skills. Small ensembles improve your ear, your dynamic control, your team playing skills, even your posture and ability to match colors. In addition, the exclusive NEW MUSICAL WORKSHOP meets now to create a whole new 1-act show in 2 weeks.

5:30 pm – 6:30 pm | DINNER
6:30 pm – 7:00 pm | BREAK

Your exciting, exhausting, musically and personally fulfilling days at MiPAC conclude with your return to your dorms at 10:00 p.m., followed by LIGHTS-OUT at 11:00 pm.

Then you get to do it all again tomorrow. WOOT!
