JOB DESCRIPTION: STAFF

Working at MiPAC is an amazing opportunity to be much more than a camp counselor, doing the essential job of supervising our campers’ health and safety. Members of OUR staff also have the chance to be:

In addition, MiPAC staffers may participate in all of our programs — with the understanding that CAMPERS always receive first crack at everything, and your job duties absolutely come first. Participation will be based on the needs of each ensemble/conductor/etc.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

  • Excellent musicians (audition tape required)
    Music Major NOT required
  • Proven leaders and team players (resume and recommendations required)
  • 18 yrs or older (legal adults)
  • Minimum education: completed freshman year of college
  • MUST BE ON-SITE FROM FIRST DAY OF TRAINING TO LAST DAY OF SHUTDOWN

JOB DUTIES

  • Follow and enforce all camp rules & regs
  • Camper Supervision
    • Live and room alongside campers in dormitories
    • Chaperone campers during recreational activities
    • Serve as mentors and role models
    • Ensure student safety and well-being
  • Office Duties
    • Assist Directors in main office (reception, phone coverage, office work, etc. appx 2-3 hrs/wk)
    • Assist Assistant Directors and Conductors in musical tasks (i.e. music librarian work)
    • Serve as Camp Ambassadors: interact regularly with campers, parents, guests, squirrels
  • Camp Setup and Shutdown
    • Arrive 2 days before campers for training and setup
    • Leave 1 day after campers to assist in closing down
    • Assist as needed in camper registration (escorts, tours, greeting, high-fives)
    • Assist campers weekly move-in and move-out
  • Musical Duties
    • Ushering Concerts
    • Maintenance: ensuring camp facilities remain clean and protected from damage
    • Assist Stage Crew with all rehearsal and concert setup/breakdown
    • Perform in ensembles as required by repertoire, conductors, MiPAC as a whole

    At least one recording (SoundCloud, YouTube, etc) that clearly shows us you can PLAY. Nothing fancy required, so don’t worry about renting a studio or hiring a sound engineer.
